Phobia is an intense, often unreasonable and logically unexplainable, fear of a situation or an object.

Common phobias include fear of enclosed spaces, fear of animals, spiders and other insects, fear of heights, fear of deep water, enclosed spaces and the sight of blood or injury.

Struggling with phobia can be very restricting and debilitating.

If you have a phobia you are likely to experience symptoms such as palpitations or a racing heart, breathlessness, sweating, dizziness or being unable to think clearly.

Often you simply 'freeze' and feel you can't move.

The most common thought is "what if I drown…" or "what if I'm stuck inside…", followed by an increased fear of panic.

Of course, you can live with phobia by simply avoiding the given object or situation.

However, by adopting an avoidance strategy, your phobia actually increases rather than going away, as the situation is magnified and hence the fear increases.

How can I get rid of my phobia?

Phobia is a treatable problem.

When it starts to restrict your life, when you can’t go for holidays because you are too scared to fly, or you keep avoiding people or a situation on a regular basis, it is time to speak to a specialist.

With our specialist phobia treatment at the Wellbeing Centre London, we provide you with solution-focused results, which means we will help you be free from your phobia, rather than just giving you coping strategies that help you feel better briefly.

Our phobia specialists will help you be free from your phobia problem, often within just few sessions.

Your sessions can be held remotely, via Zoom or Skype from the comfort of your home, or face-to-face at our Wellbeing Centre near to Putney Bridge in South West London.

How we help

NLP – Neuro-linguistic Programming is one of the fastest proven ways to treat phobia where often, after only 2-3 sessions, feelings of the problematic fear disappears. The key component in the NLP phobia treatment is the dissociation, or disconnect from the emotions associated with the phobia.

Hypnotherapy for phobia treatment works on understanding and changing irrational beliefs and thoughts in your subconscious minds, so that you can be free from them when exposed to the object or the situation that is causing the problem.

Counselling or Psychotherapy – Talking with a specialist mental health professional can help you manage your specific phobia.

This is often used in conjunction with CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy - based on understanding your fears, challenging your belief and normalising your anxiety. It can provide exposure practice until you build up a resistance to your most feared trigger without having to employ safety behaviours.
