I am an experienced integrative psychotherapist who draws on different models depending on what is helpful. My main approach is psychodynamic, which is based on the psychoanalytic tradition and understands that unconscious processes and past experiences influence our present.
Natalia Vavassori is an experienced integrative counsellor and psychotherapist who draws on different theoretical models depending on what feels most helpful to the client. Her main approach is psychodynamic, where she works with the clients to guide them towards a deeper understanding of themselves and help them identifying where they are struggling to find a way to change and live a more fulfilling life. Based on the psychoanalytic theory, psychodynamic psychotherapy looks at past experiences to try and understand how they might be linked to present struggles in order to overcome them and live a healthier life. Natalia also believes in using humour in her practice.
Natalia has lived in different parts of the world and has been exposed to a range of cultures and challenges. In her 10 year working as a psychotherapist at private and buplic sectors, she has worked with people with various different backgrounds. She has worked with people from the financial sector, creative professions, and has helped people with a variety of issues, including anxiety, grief, trauma, sexual abuse, identity issues, depression, relationship issues, panic attacks and self-harm.
Natalia has an extensive educational background, with a BSc in Integrative Counselling, a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Masters in Psychology. Her extensive experience includes working in different charitable and private settings, including honorary work for The Maudsley Hospital as a psychodynamic psychotherapist seeing patients with complex presentations. Natalia also worked in organisations specialising in supporting people from the LGBTQ+ community.
Natalia is always interested in pursuing further psychoanalytic studies and is attending long-term training at The Site of Contemporary Psychoanalysis. She is particularly interested in the Lacanian orientation.
In addition to her individual work and drawing on her experience with clients, Natalia works with couples and undertakes further specific training in couples relationships.
“ Having seen in my individual work how working on communication and understanding patterns has made a difference to individuals to facilitate change, I became interested in helping couples. Sometimes couples become stuck in patterns and they seem to keep having the same argument. I believe that communication and finding a space to explore issues at a deeper level with a professional mediating these conversations can be very helpful”.
Some issues Natalia helps couples with:
- Communication issues / arguments
- Cultural differences
- Divorce / separation
- Parenting issues
- Financial differences / control
- Dealing with difficult life circumstances
- IVF struggles
Natalis works on short term, open ended and long-term therapeutic basis.
