Say hello to a more confident you!

The Wellbeing Centre London can help you to feel more positive about your personality and give you professional guidance to gain a healthier perspective on how to live a more confident and fulfilled life. Go you!
We can all experience feelings of low confidence or issues with our self-esteem during difficult phases in our lives.

But people with ongoing self-esteem problems tend to focus only on the negative side of their personality, and regularly experience self-doubt or the feeling they ‘are not good enough’. It is also common for a person with self-esteem issues to concentrate on mistakes they have made or blame themselves for any difficulties they face.

If you think you may have low self-esteem issues, ask yourself the following questions:
Do you frequently feel like you are not good enough or that other people are better than you?
Do you often doubt yourself and your ability, despite what you have achieved or what other people tell you?

Self-doubt and the fear of being judged might stop you from doing things or having hobbies you would otherwise enjoy. The constant criticism of yourself and the worry about failing might affect your focus and hence your productivity at work. The possible lack of appreciation of your qualities and impostor syndrome might stop you from getting a job, promotion, a career you want or the pay rise you deserve.

Causes of low confidence and self-esteem

Self-esteem issues may be temporary or long-term, and how low confidence manifests itself can vary between individuals.

The problem may stem from childhood, frequent criticism by parents or other people in your life, emotionally abusive relationship or recent setbacks.

Main causes of low confidence include:
Bullying or any form of abuse
Discrimination or stigma
Relationship problems
Difficulties at school or work
Conditions such as dyslexia
Physical and mental health problems
Ongoing stress
Losing a job or struggling to get a job
Housing or money problems
Having a narcissistic parent or a partner
Body image worries
Societal expectations and social media
Marginalisation

What we can do to help

At the Wellbeing Centre London, we see all too often the negative effects that low confidence has upon our clients’ lives.

Low self-esteem is not classed as a mental health issue itself. However, if left unchallenged, it could lay the foundations for anxiety, panic attacks or even depression to arise.

We all need to take time out of our busy lives to recognise and acknowledge our qualities and remind ourselves that we ARE good enough and we ARE worthy of self-care.

The Wellbeing Centre London has qualified counsellors and coaches who can help you by using proven methods to explore your low confidence issues, recognise your strong points and to re-wire the negative way you think about any perceived weaknesses, in a supportive and safe environment.

Via counselling sessions at our base in South West London, our centre welcomes clients from across the Fulham and Putney Bridge area and beyond. For clients further afield, we also offer online therapy and coaching sessions to boost your confidence.
