Anger is a natural emotion that everyone feels from time to time.

It is a defensive response to a perceived attack on you as a person. We have all been taught from early childhood that it is not good to be angry, but anger, if experienced in small doses, is as good as any other emotion.

What is anger management?

Anger, if expressed in a healthy way, can be a positive and can help you ensure you achieve change and move in a desired direction.

However, anger, whether supressed for a long time and felt inwardly or expressed outwardly in outbursts, can have detrimental effects on your life and the lives of those around you.

It can lead to you feeling down, lethargic, feelings of hopelessness or depression, like there is something wrong with the people and the world around you.

Anger outbursts can lead to broken homes, emotionally damaged children and it can lead to things that you never wanted to happen in the first place.

Unmanaged anger can lead to long term health problems such as digestion problems, abdominal pain, headaches, insomnia, high blood pressure, eczema or other skin problems and even heart attacks.

Our therapists at the Wellbeing Centre London can help you with anger management in a number of different ways.

They will help you identify the root cause of your problem, so that you can resolve the underlying anger issues, enabling you to feel calm in the situations that trigger your anger in the first place.

When is it time to get help?

There are all sorts of legitimate reasons for feeling anger, whether inwardly or outwardly.

But when these unaddressed emotions become destructive, then it is time to see whether they serve you in the right way and whether they give you what you want in life.

You should seek help when...

You experience frequent anger or criticism about situations or people which ultimately leads to you feeling disturbed inwardly or to being intense and aggressive outwardly
Your anger or repercussions of angry outbursts impact negatively upon your relationships at home or at work
You cannot control losing your temper in situations such as traffic, with your children, partner, with other people or at work
