When feelings are difficult to express in words, creative and relational therapy can help bring understanding and healing.

I offer integrative, trauma-informed therapy for adults, adolescents, children 6+ and parents, providing a calm and compassionate space where experiences can be explored safely and at a pace that feels manageable.

You may be seeking support for yourself, or you may be worried about your child or teenager.

Adults often come to therapy feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck in patterns that feel difficult to change. Parents may reach out when their child is struggling with anxiety, emotional outbursts, behaviour changes, or difficulties at school.

My work is relational and collaborative, supporting people to explore their experiences with curiosity, care, and understanding.

I am a BACP-accredited integrative therapist and EMDR practitioner. Before becoming a counsellor, I worked for many years as an art teacher, and the creative arts have been an important part of my life and work for over three decades. Through this experience, I have seen how creativity, play, and imagination can help people explore emotions and make sense of difficult experiences.

I have particular experience supporting clients with trauma, anxiety, grief, shame, low self-esteem, and stress-related difficulties, including feelings of anger, frustration, or emotional overwhelm. I also work extensively with neurodivergent individuals in a neuro-affirming and inclusive way. This includes ADHD, Autism, ASD, dyslexia and other neurodivergent conditions.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is integrative, relational, creative, and trauma-informed. This means I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches depending on what may be most helpful for each person.

These include:
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) informed work
The Flash Technique
Person-centred therapy
Therapeutic arts and creative approaches

Working with Adults

Therapy for adults can provide space to explore experiences such as anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship difficulties, or patterns that feel difficult to shift. Alongside talking therapy, I may integrate EMDR where appropriate to help process distressing or overwhelming experiences.

Working with Adolescents

Adolescence can be a time of emotional change, identity exploration, and pressure from school or relationships. I offer young people a safe and supportive space where they can explore their thoughts and feelings and feel heard and understood.

Working with Children

Children often communicate through play, creativity, and imagination rather than words. In sessions, I may use therapeutic arts, play-based approaches, and creative exploration to help children express emotions and make sense of their experiences

Parent and Parent-Child Work

When a child is struggling, parents can often feel worried and unsure how best to help. I offer parent sessions and parent–child work informed by PACE and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), supporting families to strengthen connection, communication, and emotional understanding.

"Helen has built a strong and trusting relationship with our daughter. Her empathetic, thoughtful and curious approach has fostered a supportive environment where my daughter has felt safe to open up and progress on her journey. In addition, Helen has worked collaboratively with us as parents, offering insightful strategies and perspectives that have enabled us to better support our daughter."

"I came to Helen for support to help me come to terms with my sight loss, I ended up seeing Helen for an extended period of time as we transitioned in to trauma counselling for PTSD. I can honestly say that my sessions with Helen were life changing for me. She allowed me time to express many years of pent up feelings and I always felt safe in doing so. Helen is easy to work with, I have used therapy in the past but with Helen as the months past if felt easier to open up and gradually progress was made, the load felt lighter and I felt like I was heard for the first time ever. I cant thank Helen enough, I will remember her kind words and gentle approach and will be eternally grateful to have met her and I often think back to our sessions and use the coping techniques she showed me."

"I found Helen at a time when my daughter (aged 8/ 9) was struggling to deal with the breakup of my marriage and the introduction of step parents and step siblings. My daughter often presented as very angry. With Helen’s help I quickly realised that my daughter was not angry- she was sad, confused and worried. She did not know how to present her concerns to the adults and instead became frustrated and angry. We started to talk and I learned to communicate with my daughter in a different way. My daughter became more able to recognise and express her concerns and worries and could reach out to me for help if she felt overwhelmed. I think this bodes well for teenage years and for her moving into adulthood. My daughter felt very safe with Helen, she quickly formed a trusting relationship with her and, whilst she found some of the sessions hard, she wanted to go back. I would thoroughly recommend Helen."
